So, Ghost Brothers of Darkland County. I knew it would be either fantastic or a huge mess. It was mostly the latter, save for a few moments of brilliance (such as the first act finale). It was like a greatest hits collection of Stephen King tropes: a Satan figure who makes people do terrible things, 60s flashbacks, an innocent child exposed to a deep dark secret, a bloodbath ending. The music often felt like a total non-sequitur. The lyrics actually made me physically recoil several times. It did have that distinct, twisted King element that’s become nostalgic to me, though.
